Vivian Kobbeman Obituary

From: Lincoln KS
Vivian Joy (Spear) Kobbeman, 82, of Lincoln, KS, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Lincoln, KS. Vivian was born in Utica, KS, on October 12, 1933, to Orval and Dollie (Babcock) Spear. Vivian grew up during the depression and their family moved to different areas in Kansas for her parents to find work, eventually returning to Lincoln. Vivian graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951, worked at Quartzite, and soon married her high school sweetheart, John Kobbeman, on June 26, 1953. After spending two years in Maine while John was stationed in the Air Force, they returned to the family farm in Lincoln with their first son, Shawn. In 1958, their second son, Jeff was born. Vivian was a devoted mother and homemaker. After she and John moved to town in 1984, she enjoyed working part-time at the extension office, City Hall, the cable office and in the school libraries. She was an active member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church. Vivian and John enjoyed traveling with their family, square dancing, bus trips, card parties with neighbors, and watching the Royals play baseball. Other passions of Vivians included genealogy, gardening and yardwork, canning, antiquing at auctions, collecting Carnival glass and Roseville pottery, bird watching (especially wrens, cardinals, and purple martins) and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There wasn't anything that John and Vivian loved more than each other, and their family. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in February, 2016, and infant grandson, Casey Kobbeman. Left to celebrate her life include: sons, Shawn (Rachelle) Kobbeman and Jeff (Norma) Kobbeman, both of Lincoln; sister, Virginia (Delbert) Bosley, Wichita; grandchildren, Libby (Brandon) Taylor, Omaha, NE, Mitchell (fiancé Mindy Schrader) Kobbeman, Goddard, Jessie (Jayson) Hubbard, Manhattan, Trent Kobbeman and Ashton (Dustin Kruse) Kobbeman, Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Emily Huehl, Mackenzie and Jackson Hubbard, and Dorothy and Maverick Taylor; sisters-in-law, Clara (John) Holderman, Tulsa, OK and Katherine (Frank) Gammage, OFallon, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
