Vera Eileen Taylor McBride, 96, died at Lincoln County Hospital in Lincoln, KS, Wednesday, October 22, 2014. She was the last remaining member of a family of eight children of John & Mary Jane (Ralston) Taylor. She was born June 16, 1918, and went to school at Pleasant Hill, and graduated from Beverly High School. She married Cyril (Cy) McBride on Sept. 4th, 1937, and had three children: Virginia Diane, Judith Eileen, and Steven Craig. For many years she was a teacher, and thoroughly enjoyed working at Andersons Clothing Store in Lincoln for several years. She was a member of the Beverly Methodist Church and had been a pianist for several years. She was a life member of Chapter 48 Order of Eastern Star and former District Aide. Preceding her in death were her husband Cy in 1994, and daughter Virginia in 2005.Survivors are her daughter Judy (Rick) Shorter of Kechi, KS, and son Steve (Debbie) of rural Beverly; 9 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren. Visitation is Friday from 1 to 7 pm at Hall Mortuary in Lincoln. A graveside service is planned for 10:30 Saturday morning at the Beverly Cemetery in Beverly, KS, Pastor Kay Metzler presiding. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln United Methodist Church in Lincoln. »
