Velma C. Purdy, 99, of Lincoln died Friday, October 7, 2011 in Lincoln. She was born October 7, 1912, to William Conrad and Hilfreda A. (Nelson) Feldkamp. During her working career she was employed by Lincoln County Extension Service, Lincoln, KS, Federal Land Bank, Wichita, KS, was part owner of Cooper's Art and Books, Great Bend, KS, published Cooper's "It Happened in Kansas" books and retired from Lyons Medical Center, Lyons, KS as a medical secretary. Surviving her are her brother Warren (Lillian) Feldkamp and nephew Bill Dent. Preceding her in death were her parents and two spouses, Frank Arlo Cooper, to whom she was married from July 16, 1941 to January 19, 1968, when he died, and George S. Purdy, to whom she was married from April 15, 1981 until May 19, 2003, when he died. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Membership in clubs included The Dellas, Lincoln, KS, Twentieth Century Club, Wichita, KS, and the Athenaeum Club, Lyons, KS. Visitation - 1-7:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Hall Chapel. Services - 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Hall Chapel, with interment following in Lincoln City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lyons Bell and Star, Lyons, KS or Lincoln Historical Society, Lincoln, KS. » View what others have shared. »
