Robert Zachgo Obituary

From: Lincoln KS
Robert L. Zachgo was born May 22, 1941, and went to his heavenly home on Feberuary 8, 2018. He passed away in Wichita, KS. "Bob", as he was known to most everyone, was raised by his grandparents, Tony and Nellie Zachgo, along with his father, Wilbert. Bob was raised in Ash Grove, KS, and attended school and church there. He graduated 8th grade at Ash Grove, then attended Vesper High School in Vesper, KS. He went with the Jones Crew to Texas on the harvest crew, and got to celebrate his 18th birthday in Monday, TX, a dry county. In March of 1960, Bob married Ethel Harlow and to this union five children were born: Rhonda, Bobby, Perry, Barbara, and Jason. Bob was a member of the National Guard. In 1961 he was called to active duty for the "Berlin Crisis". He was stationed at Fort Riley until July, 1962, never leaving the states. He worked many jobs in his life, but enjoyed farming and working for the City of Lincoln for 34 years. We called him the "keeper of the lights" because if they would go out he was always there to get them going again.. He enjoyed watching his kids in the sports they were involved with, especially baseball and softball. Then along came the grandkids and more sports to watch and travel to see. He also got to watch a great-granson play T-ball two years. He so enjoyed all these activities; they were his proudest moments. He even shared a birthday with a great-grandson. There weren't too many days where people didn't see Bob riding around in the late afternoon giving his Boston Terriers a ride through Lincoln. He will be missed by his "Trudy". Survivors: his wife of almost 58 years, Ethel (Harlow) Zachgo; daughters Rhonda Keller, of Salina, Barbara (Rick) Wolting, of Lincoln; sons, Bobby (Sonya) Zachgo, of Vesper, Perry Zachgo, of Lincoln, Jason Zachgo, of Salina; sister, Joan Novotny, of Bushton; daughter-in-law, Tara Zachgo, of Lincoln; grandchildren Cody (Ashley) Wolting, Courtney (Josh) Zsuzsics, Cole (Jessica) Zachgo, Kyle (Jordon) Zachgo, Casey Zachgo, Jessica (Andrew) Moore, Shawn (Kristal) Venters, and Craig Venters; great-grandchildren Ethan and Joselyn Wolting, Brennan Wolting, Braxten, Emily, Haley and Aiden Zsuzsics, Harper and Kinsley Zachgo, Harlan, Jasper and Madison Moore, Kyla and Rhylee Venters; many nieces and nephews and lots of other family members. He joins his father, grandparents, son-in-law, Earl Keller, granson, Paul E. Allison, sister, Betty, and her husband, Bill Gulledge, brother-in-law, Larry Novatny and nephew, Larry Novatny, Jr. Visitation: 1-7:00 P.M. Monday, February 12th, at Hall Chapel, Lincoln.
