Phylis Paulette Brensinger Marshall Loy was born to Paul and Maxine Brensinger on January 22, 1942, in Abilene, KS and passed away October 30, 2010, in Minneapolis, KS. She was preceded in death by her biological and adoptive parents, husband, Morris, and one grandchild, Britton. Survivors are her sons Wayne Loy and wife, Cindy, of Asherville and Eddie Loy and wife, Denise, of Minneapolis; her brother Ron Marshall and wife, Sara, of Billings, MT; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation: 1:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Hall Chapel. Service: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Barnard, KS Interment at Union Valley Cemetery, Barnard, KS Memorials may be made to Golden Wheels Senior Center in Minneapolis Phylis and her brother, Ron, were raised in Abilene until their mother was killed in a car accident in 1951. They then stayed with relatives until they were adopted by Wilson and Frances Marshall of Barnard in 1953. Most would say it was destiny that brought Phylis to Barnard as her childhood home neighbored that of Morris, the love her life. Phylis was a believer in faith, family and friends. While young, she was taught to play the piano for church and proudly played for many years. It was not uncommon for Morris to be vocalist and they made quite a team in many ways for the 47 years they were married. They took pride in giving back to the Barnard community and she always created extra smiles and laughter at holiday events. Her strong faith in God enabled her to care for Morris and still have time for others, including their favorite cat, MooMoo, and dog, Henry. Her children and grandchildren were top priority and she was so excited when a great-grandson came along. She loved to cook, not only for her family, but for the Barnard Grade School, Lincoln High School, Barnard Lions Club, harvest meals for the elevator and any other social gatherings she thought needed food. The house always had that down home cookin aroma and baking birthday treats and Christmas cookies brought her great pleasure. She would plan ahead for the next family get-together. Always preparing more food than could be eaten, she would send the leftovers home with guests. That she was a nurturer was evident in her jobs as hospital worker, school cook and bus driver, where her care, love and big smile came from the heart. She considered friends to be extended family and, after the passing of Morris, moved to Minneapolis where she made even more friends. She became involved at the Golden Wheel Senior Center and was inducted into the Red Hat Society. Phylis was a proud mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved the journey of life. »
