Maria Zsuzsics Obituary

From: Sylvan Grove KS
Maria J. Zsuzsics (Schon), 93, of Sylvan Grove, KS, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, in Wilson, KS. Maria was born in Transylvania, Romania on March 29, 1922, to Jozsef and Judit (Csont) Schon. She lived an idyllic life until WWII started and turned her world upside down, as it did for so many others. Before the war, as a young adult she worked as a nanny; later as a caregiver in an orphanage, experiencing first-hand the horrific ravages of war. Married in 1945 to Louis Zsuzsics, Sr., she later immigrated to the U.S. with her husband and three small children. Sponsored by the Lutheran Federation, they settled in Sylvan Grove, where she lived the remainder of her life, raising five children, working hard along side her husband of 42 years to provide a warm and loving home. She worked for several years at ElKan Ford Company in Ellsworth, making many friends before the factory was relocated. A deeply religious woman, Maria lived her life by example. She was a caring, loving person who often delighted in giving to family and friends the many beautiful afghans she crocheted and the bountiful veggies she harvested from her garden - gardening from her wheelchair well into her 90's. God took Marie into his loving arms, where she was reunited with all her loved ones who passed before her. She was preceded in death by: husband, Louis, Sr.; son, James Joseph; grandson, Joseph James. Survivors include: sons, Louis, Jr. (Jolene), Lincoln, Georg (Donna), Manhattan, Larry (Dorothy), Lincoln; daughter, Edith (Bob Poinan), Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Michelle (David), Joshua, Justin (Elizabeth), Danielle, Allen (Vicky), Amanda (Harry); great-grandchildren, Emily, Haley, Aiden, Matthew, Dason, Lily, Ethan, Samantha, Brady, Cassie, Maya. Funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sylvan Grove, with inurnment following in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. » View what others have shared.
