From: Topeka KS Kyle Ivan Swisher, 87, passed away October 7, 2011, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. Kyle was born June 18, 1924, in Vesper, KS, the son of Kyle Upton and Loretta R. (Snavely) Swisher. He graduated from Vesper High School and Brown Mackie College of Salina. Kyle joined the US Navy and served in WWII on the USS Jupiter. For over thirty years he worked for Nabisco. Organizations to which he belonged included the Moose Lodge of Topeka, VFW Post 1650 and the American Legion Post 1. In his youth he enjoyed trapping and, later in life, ice skating, roller skating and ball room dancing. In addition to being a good mechanic, he was very versatile and inventive. Survivors include: long-time companion, Barbara Picolet, Tecumseh KS; two sisters, Pauline White, Kanopolis KS, and Yvonne Nelson, Lincoln KS; a brother, Donald Swisher, Beloit KS; four nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and an infant sister. Service - Graveside with military honors at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 13, 2011, at Vesper Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the VFW and the American Legion.
