Josephine Joyce Manning, 89, Beverly, KS, died Saturday, December 5, 2015. She was born August 9, 1926, in Beverly, to John F. and Minnie E. (Beckwith) Schroeder. She was united in marriage to Wendell Alvin Manning on June 22, 1946, at Wilson, KS. They had four children: Leon, Randy, Lana, and Linda.Josephine graduated from Beverly Rural High School and later went to Cameron Commercial College in Killeen, Texas. Josephine was a military wife, following her husband from Kansas to Japan, France, Texas, Louisiana, and back to Kansas upon Wendells retirement. They then farmed and lived in Beverly. She retired from the Saline Valley Bank in Lincoln in January 1992 as senior vice president and cashier. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Wendell; brothers, Leo and Lloyd Schroeder; son, Randy; grandson, Lance. Left to celebrate her life include: son, Leon L. Manning (Mary), of OK; Randys widow, Margie Manning, of Ohio; daughters Lana L. Sakos, of Rapid City, SD and Linda S. Manning of Perth, Western Australia; grandson, Lane; granddaughters Stephanie Born, Lindsey Quasney, and Kelsey Sakos; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Naomi Ericson, of Lincoln; brother, Virgal Schroeder, of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews who were special to her. All her life Josephine helped others. It was part of who she was to the very end. Visitation will be 1-7:00 P.M. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Hall Chapel. Family will be present 5-7:00 P.M. Graveside memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 12, 2015, in Beverly City Cemetery.
