Helen Marie (Emmot) Myers

  Helen Marie Myers, 96, passed away September 17, 2023, at the Lincoln Park Manor Nursing Home, Lincoln, KS.

  Helen was born November 27, 1927, in Victor KS, the daughter of Art and Mildred Emmot. Helen had one older brother, Stan (deceased). The family later moved to Beloit, KS and Helen attended Beloit High School, graduating in 1945. She married Seth Oral Myers of Barnard, KS on December 11, 1949. They were married for 56 years, residing their entire marriage on the family farm south of Barnard. Seth was a lifelong farmer-stockman and Helen helped on the farm, driving grain trucks during harvest, fixing fence, chopping thistles, helping Seth feed cattle in the winter mornings, and tending to the ‘barn chores.’ She was also an excellent cook and fed many harvest and silo filling crews. Helen was a member of the Barnard Methodist Church, which she regularly attended. One of her favorite activities was morning coffee in Barnard, either at Betty’s Place or the Elevator where she looked forward to seeing her Barnard community friends.

  Helen and Seth had three children, Carol Thomas (deceased), Mari B. Myers (Oklahoma City, OK) and Dean A. Myers (Edmond, OK). She had five grandchildren, Chris Ward, Steven Todd Johnson, Kelly (Johnson) Baker, Sarah (Myers) Spaulding and Seth P. Myers. Helen also had seven great grandchildren, Kale, Kyra, Veda and Rye Johnson, Brandon and Avery Baker and Emersyn and Miles Spaulding.

  Services will be Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Barnard Methodist Church, Kay Metzler presiding. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Park Manor, 922 North 5th St, Lincoln, KS 67455.
