Gary Bliss Obituary

OSBORNE

Gary Cade Bliss, 81, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, in Lincoln, KS. He was born

November 30, 1939, in Osborne, KS to Nelvin and Winnifred (Cade) Bliss.

Gary was united in marriage to Bev Wheeler in 1965, and they were blessed with two children -- Scott and Kandi. He was later married to Lisette Garey in 2002, where he gained three stepdaughters -- Kelsey, Raegan, and Madison. They were married for 11 years.

Gary was a longtime resident of Osborne where he was a rural mail carrier for many years. He served in the United States Army as a medic during the Vietnam War. To many, he was known as a “Rattlesnake Wrangler.” Gary and a few buddies traveled across the state for years, always drawing a crowd, showing off their rattlesnake handling skills. Gary also loved to race cars and was a lifetime fan of NASCAR -- especially Jeff Gordon. Gary’s hobbies also included collecting and shooting firearms, being a HAM radio operator, watching the Kansas City Royals play, and most of all -- his grandchildren. He was very proud of all his grandkids, and rarely missed a game or function. His favorites were football and baseball games.

Gary is survived by his sisters, Barbara Wilson of Osborne and Linda Lee of Fowler, KS; son, Scott Bliss of Wakefield, KS; daughter, Kandi Walter (Devon) of Lincoln; grandchildren, Brittyn (Don), Brogan (Sammi), Riggs (Brianna), Bradee (Colton), Carson (Dalton), Taegen, Macy, Chandler, and Drayse; and great grandchildren, Slade, Westlyn, Wacey, Hux and Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Bliss; and great grandson, Colson Panzer.
