BEVERLY

  Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Woody, 97, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Minneapolis, KS. She was born July 15, 1928 in Ellsworth, KS to Louis and Lydia (Urbanek) Soukup. She married Harry “Fred” Woody in Ellsworth on November 12, 1949. Betty was a long time resident of Beverly, KS. She was an RN at the Lincoln County Hospital for many years, beginning at the time the hospital was built. She even helped deliver the first baby born at the hospital after it was built. Betty was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lincoln where she taught catechism and was a part of the church’s altar society. She was also a 4-H leader and hosted a number of foreign exchange students.

  Betty is survived by her children, Rita Peterson of Beverly, Marion Woody of Tescott, KS, Kristen Kling (Gary) of Belleville, KS, Mark Woody of Beverly, William Woody of Beverly, and Robert Woody of Beverly; grandchildren, William and James Peterson, Michele Woody, Melissa Gates (Joe), Justin Kling (Erin), Jason Kling, April Woody (Lucas Deckert), and Jared Woody (Paige); 12 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred; daughter Bernice Salmon and her husband Rick; grandson Robert Salmon; great granddaughter Mattison Peterson; and brothers, Francis, Marion, and Bernard Soukup.

  Visitation: 3-6 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2026 at Hall Chapel in Lincoln, KS with family present to greet visitors 4-6 p.m. A rosary service will begin at 6:00 p.m.

  Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lincoln with burial following at Beverly Cemetery.
