Doris Liggett

Doris E. Liggett, 92, Lincoln, Kan. passed away on April 16, 2016 in Salina, Kan. She was born on January 16, 1924 to H. Clinton and L. Ellen Woodyard in Greenleaf, Kan. The family moved from Greenleaf to a farm north of Luray, Kan. in 1931. She graduated from Luray High School in 1941. Her parents moved to Lincoln in 1942 and she followed in 1944. She worked as a grocery clerk at Hundertmarks Store. On March 9, 1945 she was married to Ernest G. Liggett. This union was blessed with two sons and one daughter; Delbert, Galen, and Leann. Doris was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #48 and also a member of the Lincoln Community Church. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and four sisters, Earleen Chesney, Opal Parnell, Laura Anderson, and Beulah Weeks. Left to celebrate her life are: two sons, Delbert (Connie) Liggett and Galen (Carole) Liggett; and one daughter, Leann (Robert Johnson) Bishop; seven grandchildren, Misty (Scott) Tucker, Audrey (Matt) Shepard, Alex (Blythe) Liggett, Abby (Wayne) Gerleman, Sam (Katy Grimes) Liggett, Becky (Chris) Good, and Ben (Sunnie White) Bishop; six great-grandchildren, Lauren and Chase Tucker, Georgia Liggett, Breckyn Grimes, and Juliette and Kelsey Good; two brothers-in-law, Earl (Arleta) Liggett and Harry (Shirley) Liggett; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Hall Mortuary, Lincoln, Kan. Interment following at the Lincoln City Cemetery.
