Dora Schroeder Obituary

BEVERLY

Dora L. Schroeder, 66, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 in Salina, KS. She was born February 17, 1960 in Salina to Clifton and Shirley (Daily) Gruber. She was raised on the family farm north of Lincoln, where she spent countless hours throwing small square bales, digging musk thistles, and developing a lifelong love for agriculture and rural life. Dora was a 1978 graduate of Lincoln High School in Lincoln, KS and a 1980 graduate of Cloud County Community College in Concordia, KS where she played basketball and held the school rebounding record for many years. Dora and Tim were high school sweethearts who built a beautiful life together. They were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lincoln on October 23, 1982. Throughout her life, Dora enjoyed working on the family farm, horseback riding, dancing, visiting the mountains, watching birds out of her kitchen window, and cheering on her two sons at countless sporting events and activities. For more than 35 years, she faithfully attended K-State football games each fall, where tailgating with family and friends became a cherished tradition. She affectionately considered that group her “K-State Family”.  She was a teller at the Beverly bank for 30 years. She was a faithful and active member of St. Patrick Parish for many years and a member of the church’s altar society and religious education chairman. She also served as the Colorado Township treasurer in Beverly. Ks. Of all the titles and responsibilities she held throughout her life, her favorite was simply “Grandma.” She treasured her time with Kodie, Josie, and Collyer and loved every opportunity to babysit, spoil them, and watch them grow.

Dora is survived by her husband Tim Schroeder of Beverly; sons, Ethan Schroeder of Beverly and Wyatt Schroeder (Brecka) of Brookville, KS; grandchildren, Kodie, Josie, and Collyer; brother John Gruber of Lincoln; and sisters, Shirley Rae Chapman (Randy) of Glasco and Emily Jo Olson-Gruber of Beloit. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Gregg Olson.
