Delbert Lyle Obermueller, 78, of Lincoln, KS, died Thursday, May 12, 2016. Delbert (Deb) was born at his parents' home south of Lincoln, KS, on September 11, 1937, to Theodore and Alma (Bolte) Obermueller. He was the youngest of eight children, and was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St Paul's Lutheran Church. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Elementary School all eight grades with the same teacher, Mr. Emil Trougett. Deb then enrolled his freshman and sophomore years at St John Lutheran School in Winfield, Kansas, finishing his junior and senior years at Lincoln High School. He graduated with the Class of 1955. During the summer he worked for his brothers, Reinold and Milfred, driving the egg truck connected with their Westfall grocery store, picking up eggs at farms and trucking them to Texas. Deb also labored in the oil fields of Utah from 1957 to 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958, spending 13 months in Germany. On August 23, 1964, Delbert and Sidona Joyce Richter were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church, a country church north of Hoxie, KS. Their first home was in Denmark, KS, where Deb managed the Farmway Co-op elevator. Son Mark was born in 1966. In 1967, they moved two miles southwest of Lincoln to a peaceful farm along the Bullfoot Creek. A second son, Mitchell, was born in 1968, and in 1971, their daughter, Janet, was born. During these years Deb managed the Phillips 66 service station and after several years, began working at the Saline Valley Bank, now the Bank of Tescott, Lincoln. Six years later they moved again to a farm south of Lincoln and Deb became owner of Obermueller Insurance and worked taxes during tax season. In addition, he farmed and had cattle. His pastime and hobby interests were hunting and fishing with his family. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and brothers, Louis, Milfred, Reinold, Vernon, and Virgil Obermueller. Left to celebrate his life include: his wife of 52 years, Sidona; sons, Mark (Lori) Obermueller and Mitch (Katie) Obermueller, both of Lincoln; daughter, Janet (Troy) Sienkeiwicz, of Surprise, AZ; brother, Rev. Nolan Obermueller, of Seward, NE; sister, Lorene Buttenhoff, of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Dolores Obermueller, of Lincoln, Evelyn Obermueller, of Overland Park, KS, and Frances William, of Hoxie; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Nancy) Richter, of Early, TX and Herschel Richter, of Buena Park, CA; grandchildren, Brandi Obermueller, of Topeka, Dylan, Brecken, Jerod, Colin, and Zach Obermueller, all of Lincoln, Haley and Alec Gnam and Trinity Sienkeiwicz, of Surprise, AZ. Visitation: 1-7:00 P.M. Monday, May 16th, at Hall Chapel, Lincoln. Family present 5-7:00 P.M. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 17th, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lincoln, with interment following in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
