Dee L. Cheney

SALINA

  Dee L. Cheney, 87, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026 in Salina, KS. He was born November 9, 1938 in Sylvan Grove, KS to Verne and Myrtle (Herman) Cheney. Dee was a graduate of Vesper High School. Following high school, Dee joined the United States Air Force. After his military discharge, Dee settled in Salina, KS where he became a grain miller for ADM and ran his landscaping business, Dee’s Lawn Service. He retired in 2011. While working for ADM, he was active in the labor union. He married Lois (Shetron) Sanders in Salina in 1995.

  Dee is survived by his daughter Deanna Venable (Robert) of Georgetown, TX; granddaughter Stephanie Wallace (Doug) of Georgetown; step sons, Steven Sanders of Simpsonville, SC and Kevin Sanders of Phoenix, AZ, step daughter Cathy Mourning of Wichita; and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois; parents; and brother Delbert.

  Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2026 at Hall Chapel in Lincoln, KS with burial following at the Vesper Cemetery.
