Clarence Leon Thrun

SYLVAN GROVE

  Clarence L. Thrun, 81, of Sylvan Grove, KS, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 in Lincoln, KS. He was born December 16, 1941 in Salina, KS to Bill and Ruth (Krueger) Thrun. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Sylvan Grove. He later became and elder of the church and loved going to his bible study.

  Clarence was a graduate of Sylvan Unified School. He joined the US Air Force and served proudly for four years. Upon returning home, Clarence and his brother, Donnie, enjoyed farming alongside their parents. In the early ‘80s, Clarence and Donnie built and opened the Thrun Bros. Garage. Clarence’s passion was working as an auto and farm equipment mechanic for the surrounding communities. Clarence enjoyed spending time with his children, Wesley and Dawn, attending their school activities, hunting, fishing, and family time together. He spent time with his grandson, Kaleb, showing him the ropes and sharing his passion of auto mechanics. They hunted together and Clarence showed Kaleb the escape routes around the old roads of Sylvan Grove to avoid the cops!

  Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruth Thrun and brother, Donnie Thrun. He is survived by his son, Wesley Thrun; daughter, Dawn Bricker; grandson, Kaleb Bricker; sister-in-law, Terri Thrun; and niece, Lynn Thrun all of Sylvan Grove.

  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sylvan Grove. The family requests flowers be sent to the church.
