Carolyn Kayleen Farris, of Lincoln, passed away July 20, 2020 at Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 56. Carolyn was born in Concordia, KS to Russell and Kayleen (Skocny) Henriksen on March 14, 1964. Carolyn was baptized in the Courtland Methodist Church on May 26, 1964. She attended school in Courtland and Scandia and graduated from Pike Valley High School in 1982. She was very good in athletics at Pike Valley, playing volleyball, basketball, and track. In basketball, she led Pike Valley in scoring for three years, scoring over 1000 points. She is Pike Valley's all-time leading scorer in girls' basketball. After high school, she played at the college level at Colby Community College and Bethany College in Lindsborg. After graduation, Carolyn married Jim Farris on June 13, 1987 in Courtland. To this union, two children were born: James Russell and Jenna Lee. Carolyn taught 3 rd grade for 33 years at Lincoln Elementary School. She also coached high school basketball, volleyball, and track. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jim of Lincoln; son, James of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, Jenna of Olathe, KS; parents, Russell and Kayleen of Courtland; brother, Terry Lee Henriksen (Christine) of Courtland; uncle, Kenneth Henriksen (Judeen) of Formoso, KS; nieces, Amanda Carlson (John) of Virginia and Kristen Gach (Tyson) of New York, NY; parents-in-law, Jim and Judy Farris of Evans, GA; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Martini (Robert) of Evans, GA, Michelle Chipman (Robert) of Kennett Square, PA, and Catherine Kania (Michael) of Evans, GA. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Parsons Funeral Home - Hall Chapel, Lincoln. Family will not be present so that building capacity can be controlled. A private graveside service will be held at Lincoln Cemetery. Graveside service will be filmed and posted to Parsons Funeral Home LC Facebook page (@parsonsfh).
