LINCOLN, KS

  Bernice Flaherty Shaffstall, 100, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Lincoln Park Manor, Lincoln, KS. She was born July 4, 1921 in Portis, Osborne County, KS to Louis and Stella (Doane) Pottberg.

  Bernice married Paul E. Flaherty in Phoenix, AZ on March 7, 1942. The couple had three sons, Larry, Rich, and Jim. After Paul passed, Bernice married Raymond Shaffstall in Lincoln, KS on October 19, 1996. She was an assistant in the doctor’s office and an Avon representative in Lincoln for many years. Bernice enjoyed playing pinochle with all of her life-long friends. She was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

  Bernice is survived by her sons, Larry Flaherty (Regina) of Houston, TX and Rich Flaherty (Ricci) of Henderson, NV; daughter-in-law, Mona Flaherty of Bixby, OK; grandchildren, Pam Straube (Tim), David Flaherty (Katherine), Joe Flaherty (Caroline), Kristin Garrick (Kent), Erin Flaherty (Anne), Shannan McClain (Daniel), and Michael Flaherty (Amanda); and great grandchildren, Jacob, Megan, Cadel, Zade, Ozlo, Sean, Brian, Brennan, Mason, Ethan, Owen, and Finn. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Flaherty and Raymond Shaffstall; and son, Jim Flaherty.

  Celebration of life service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Parsons Funeral Home – Hall Chapel, Lincoln with inurnment following in Lincoln Cemetery.
